Green Frog Day at the Kingston Public Market

Over 150 community members turned out on May 22nd at the Kingston Public Market to learn about non-native green frogs a species introduced from the eastern U.S., NOT the native Pacific tree frog)! This event was the project of local 11-year-old student, Asha Kanda, a National Parks Trust student ambassador. Asha and her brother shared information about this species, introduced live green frogs to local kids, and helped us find out where community members had seen or heard this species. By  keeping track of where green frogs occur here, Stillwaters hopes to understand why they may be less of a problem for native species than invasive American bullfrogs and African clawed frogs. Thanks to Asha and her family for an incredible day!
