BOARD & COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Board meets monthly. We have an active, involved board. Business expertise is especially needed. Committee members are needed for most of the areas listed below! Committees meet about once a month, or as needed.

 

PROGRAM COMMITTEE

  • Nature Center*: Exhibit Planning Committee is forming the design of exhibits in the future Interpretive Center building.
  • Teachers/Naturalists: Work with adults or children. Teach classes or workshops in a topic area related to Nature or Environmental Studies. Could have a stipend.
  • Field Studies Assistants: Help a teacher with a group of students in an outdoor field study. Minimal preparation ahead of class.
  • EcoFest*, other large education events: Planning, contacting exhibitors, set-up, children’s crafts, food, clean-up, advertising - a little bit of everything to make it happen!
  • Frog Chorus: An education drama troupe
  • Library Volunteers: to organize the growing Environmental Resource Library

          CUTTHROATS OF CARPENTER CREEK

  • Stream & Estuary Monitoring: Training provided. Stream monitoring of Carpenter Creek, monthly on a Sunday morning. Done in teams. Estuary monitoring monthly on another day.
  • Restoration in Carpenter Creek watershed: Work parties to clean out noxious weeds or other restoration. Or adopt a project area. Miscellaneous projects such as installation of bird boxes or planting native plants.
  • Conservation Options: Contact neighbors in the watershed who might be interested in conservation options for their property.
  • Environmental Advocate: Write emails or letters to appropriate officials in the County to advocate for protection of the environment. Stillwaters will provide information.

NATURAL SYSTEMS & FACILITIES COMMITTEE

  • Construction and Repair: Adopt small construction projects or assist others. Sometimes adopt small repair projects. Painting, plumbing and other skills, too!
  • Property & Trail Maintenance: Periodic, regular clipping and cleaning up trails and property. Or join a work party!
  • Trail construction: Our 3-acre wetlands & streamside campus needs a trail and boardwalk. Need workers to help construct boardwalk!
  • Outdoor Art: Art pieces for the main campus, such as the salmon cycle depicted on the fence.

 

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

  • Fund Raiser Events*: Planning and preparations for dinners, auctions, other types of events. Creativity welcome on the planning committee.
  • Mailing parties: Help prepare bulk mailings for newsletters and fund raising letters.
  • Clerical assistants: Work on specific project, such as mail list updates, or for a regular time slot, such as every Thursday afternoon. Variety of tasks suited to skill level.
  • Book Sale* or Yard Sale*: Two of our big annual fund raisers. Help with planning, advertising, putting out flyers, set-up, sort books, clean-up, or help at the sale.
  • Volunteer Coordination*: Work with the Volunteer Team to contact people, set up work parties, keep track of volunteer workers.
